¿Deberíamos Temer a la Inteligencia Artificial?

Resumen

La inteligencia artificial (IA) es un desarrollo tecnológico que ha permitido que los sistemas puedan aprender y realizar tareas normalmente asociadas con la inteligencia humana. Lo que sucede en la actualidad se empezó a gestar hace 40 años con el desarrollo de dos técnicas importantes: el aprendizaje profundo (el deep learning o DL), que le permitió a las computadoras aprender a través de la experiencia, y el sistema experto (SE), que imita la capacidad humana para tomar decisiones.

El avance en el campo de la IA ha sido notable desde el año 2000, cuando se desarrollaron unidades de procesamiento gráfico y nuevos algoritmos que ordenan y optimizan los resultados de una solicitud. De allí que sea mucho mejor hablar de máquinas expertas en el procesamiento de información y no de la sustitución del ser humano por máquinas, las cuales no tienen ni tendrán inteligencia emocional e intuitiva. La preocupación de lo que puede ocurrir en el futuro debería centrarse, en todo caso, en la manipulación genética o la contaminación del agua.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technological development that has enabled systems to learn and perform tasks normally associated with human intelligence. What is happening today began to take shape 40 years ago with the development of two important techniques: deep learning (DL), which allowed computers to learn through experience, and the expert system (ES), which mimics the human ability to make decisions.

Progress in the field of AI has been remarkable since 2000, when graphical processing units and new algorithms that sort and optimize the results of a request were developed. Hence, it is much better to speak of expert machines in information processing and not of the replacement of humans by machines, which do not have and will not have emotional and intuitive intelligence. Concern about what may happen in the future should focus, in any case, on genetic manipulation or water pollution.
